Event Details

On January 16, 1920 a dark cloud fell over Boston, as the Volstead Act, prohibiting the sale of alcohol, became the law of the land.  Prohibition forced barflies and boozehounds to imbibe in secret; mostly at not-so-glamorous speakeasies and blind pigs.

Imagine, then, the pure jubilation that exploded across Boston as news spread of the repeal of the Great Experiment!  Join us as we celebrate the end of the thirteen-year dry spell with (post) Prohibition-era cocktails, savory snacks and plenty of hijinks as we relive the day that bartenders went back to work and Bawdy Boston returned to the bar.

Join us as we open our doors at 6:31pm, the exact time the first legal drink was served in Boston, as we raise a toast to history and where it has brought us. Tickets include a list of curated cocktails, paired with food offerings and a copy of Drinking Boston: A History of the City and Its Spirits, and lots of celebratory fun.

Proceeds from the repeal night party goes to USBG New York, to support those in the food and beverage industry that are suffering from super storm Sandy.
